Purpose
Eastern Creek Karting (ECK) is committed to fostering a culture of inclusivity and respect, ensuring that everyone, irrespective of their gender, race, religion, ethnicity, or disability, feels valued and can participate fully. This policy outlines ECK’s commitment to diversity and inclusion, aligning with national guidelines and grant objectives to promote gender equality and enhance participation in motorsport activities.
Scope
This policy applies to all staff, volunteers, participants, and stakeholders involved with ECK. It governs all areas of our operations, including training, competition, community engagement, and administration.
Policy Statements
Fair and Equitable Access
ECK will provide equal access to all its facilities and ensure fair distribution of training and competition times to promote gender equity and inclusivity. ECK is actively working to ensure the provision of inclusive amenities and facilities that support and enable the participation of all people, no matter their ability, gender, or circumstance.
Scheduling and resource allocation will be managed transparently to ensure all members, regardless of gender or background, have equal and adequate opportunities to participate and excel.
Commitment to Gender Equity
ECK commits to maintaining a balanced representation of genders across all levels of the organisation, including leadership, coaching, and participant roles.
We will actively promote programs that encourage the participation of women and girls in motorsport, aiming to correct gender imbalances and foster a supportive environment for female athletes of all skills, levels and abilities.
Inclusion of Diverse Communities
Recognising the cultural diversity of our community, particularly in our area within Western Sydney, ECK commits to cultural competency by educating our staff and volunteers on inclusivity measures and appropriate language, and ameliorating communication nuances that may affect participation in ECK’s programs and participation in motor sports. This includes continued engagement with relevant stakeholders in the community, such as Council, parents, community groups, clients, local organisations and other diverse groups to ensure our programs are respectful, inclusive, and culturally sensitive.
Safeguarding and Member Protection
ECK will uphold strict safeguarding policies to protect all participants from harassment, bullying, and discrimination. These policies will be regularly reviewed and updated in consultation with stakeholders.
Clear pathways will be provided for reporting grievances and misconduct, ensuring that all complaints are handled promptly and confidentially.
Anti-Discrimination and Harassment
Discrimination, harassment, and any form of bullying are strictly prohibited within ECK. Our organisation will take immediate and appropriate action against such behaviours.
We will ensure our policy and procedures on anti-discrimination and harassment will be explained to all staff and volunteers to ensure they understand their roles in maintaining a respectful and inclusive environment, with clear avenues for escalation.
Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration
ECK will actively work with local government bodies, community organisations, and industry partners to enhance the inclusivity of our programs.
Collaborations will focus on expanding access, developing inclusive programming, and leveraging resources for broader community impact.
Implementation and Monitoring
The implementation of this policy will be the responsibility of the ECK Management Team, supported by all department heads.
Regular training sessions will be conducted to ensure that all staff are familiar with the inclusivity principles and their specific responsibilities.
We will assess the effectiveness of this policy using annual reviews, community feedback, and participant surveys to ensure continuous improvement. Adjustments will be made based on findings to continuously improve our inclusivity practices.
Review
This policy will be reviewed annually or as needed to adapt to new challenges or changes in community demographics or legal requirements. Feedback from stakeholders will be crucial to this ongoing process.
By enacting this Inclusivity Policy, Eastern Creek Karting reaffirms its dedication to creating a welcoming and equitable environment for all members of the motorsport community. This policy aligns with National Gender Equality Action Plan, Multicultural Access and Equity Policy and National Disability Strategy and sets a framework for local actions that contribute to a more inclusive and equal society.
